Jean Dawson shares new song “SICK OF IT*” with video

It’s the fourth single from his forthcoming album CHAOS NOW*

Jean Dawson’s third LP, CHAOS NOW*, arrives next Friday, October 7. The project is a follow-up to 2020’s Pixel Bath, but if its singles are any indication, it’s a vastly different record. Dawson has always hopped genres, straddling the line between hip-hop and alt rock as well as anyone. But the new songs find him exploring heavier territory, both sonically and thematically.

“SICK OF IT*” is no exception. The fourth solo offering on a tracklist that includes features from Isaiah Rashad, Earl Sweatshirt, and George Clanton, it’s 135 seconds of pogo-worthy, self-destructive rage. “I’m a freak, I’m a creep, I’m a shithead clown,” Dawson sing-screams early on over a sped-up post-punk guitar lick and a frantic drum line that scrambles to keep pace. “I’m a little spec of nothing, I can promise, I can barely even breathe,” he continues later with the urgency of someone dedicated to burning out before he fades away.

The new song arrives behind “PORN ACTING*” — released back in February, long before CHAOS NOW* was officially announced — as well as August lead single “THREE HEADS*” and last week’s “PIRATE RADIO*.” It comes with a Bradley J. Calder-directed visual treatment full of quick cuts and flashing on-screen lyrics. Watch it above.
