According to TMZ, Troy Ave has has been indicted on one count of attempted second degree murder and four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in his connection to a May shooting at Irving Plaza. It's noteworthy that Ave isn't facing any murder charges. The rapper's friend and bodyguard Ronald McPhatter was killed by shots fired in the venue's VIP area. The indictment will be publicly available on Wednesday.
Over email, Scott Leemon, a lawyer for Troy Ave, told The FADER that he is intending to push for bail at the indictment heading on Wednesday. “Nothing in this indictment is a surprise or new," he said. "It’s the same wrong story that NYPD has been trying to portray. The video does not show everything nor explain what happened in the VIP room before Troy came running out, as a victim, after he was shot.”
