Rising British-Nigerian singer Moelogo puts himself in good company on the remix of "Penkele," one of the singles off his recent Ìréti EP. On the track, which features a sample from King Sunny Adé's 1983 song of the same name, Moelogo is joined by afropop superstars Davido and Sarkodie. Representing Nigeria and Ghana, respectively, the pair swags out Moelogo's mellow, self-affirming vibe with the signature styles we've come to love from them: a raspy, melodic verse from Davido, a searing rap from Sarkodie.
"'Penkele' really means a lot to me. It represents my artistic freedom, an ability to be myself musically, and the hope that I will make it one day, so to have Davido and Sarkodie on the remix with me is completely mind-blowing," he told The FADER over email. "Being on a record with these two really means the world to me—representing Africa and our culture with two of the continent's biggest artists is such a blessing."
