Dai Burger (pronounced “Day Burger”) has shared a new EP titled Dai Dreamin’ (pronounced “Day Dreamin’”). The latest effort from the canonically queer Queens MC is a seven-track, featureless tape, with production split between her frequent collaborator thismustbesaint and B’more club legend Mighty Mark.
Despite the size of their team, Dai, Mark, and Saint are able to inhabit styles across the sonic spectrum. Dai demonstrates impressive versatility, eating all the fruit of her producers’ labor with relish. She sounds equally comfortable as a tongue-in-cheek nursery rhymer and a street rapper, a disco diva and an off-kilter R&B singer, a la Tierra Whack. Dai Dreamin’ a disorienting display of talent that flirts with incoherence but never falls apart. Stream it below.
Dai Burger will be throwing a release party for Dai Dreamin’ this Thursday (February 15) at District 385 in Ridgewood, Queens, hosted by Twink Next Door and Bae Sadé, with DJ sets from Ivory Snow and Rubie Lee and live performances by Lucille Ghatti, Rocky Snyda, and Dai herself. Find the details in the flier below and RSVP here.
