Dehd have announced their fifth studio album, Poetry. The follow-up to 2022’s Blue Skies, which the band broke down track by track for The FADER, is due out May 10 via Fat Possum.
The news comes with the project’s lead single, “Mood Ring,” a quintessentially scuffed Dehd track that fuses the devil-may-care energy of California surf jams with the fuzzy edge of Memphis garage rock, all by way of the band’s Chicago punk background. (Appropriately, the majority of Poetry’s tunes were written at Taos, New Mexico’s Earthship and in a cabin on Washington’s Puget Sound.)
“Mood Ring” arrives alongside a Glamhag-directed music video, starring Alex Grelle as a ruffled young professional who chugs a decanter of perfume and transforms overnight into a woman about town. Watch the clip and stream the song on its own below, followed by Poetry’s cover art/tracklist and Dehd’s 2024 tour dates.
