Diddy has stepped aside as chairman of Revolt, the music TV channel he helped found in 2013, TMZ reported Tuesday morning (November 28) and the network has since confirmed. The move comes in the wake of three women suing the rapper and Bad Boy Records founder for sexual assault, including the R&B singer and Bad Boy signee Casandra Ventura (Cassie).
“Sean Combs has stepped down from his position as chairman of Revolt,” the network wrote in social media posts Tuesday afternoon. “While Mr. Combs has previously had no operational or day-to-day role in the business, this decision helps to ensure that Revolt remains steadfastly focused on our mission to create meaningful content for the culture and amplify the voices of all Black people throughout this country and the African diaspora.”
Reached for comment, a representative for Combs confirmed the news, indicating that Diddy’s decision to step down is a temporary one.
On November 16, Ventura sued Combs, accusing him of rape and more than a decade of sexual abuse. The suit was settled less than a week later, with Ventura saying she’d “decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control.” But two more women filed sexual assault lawsuits against Combes last week under the temporary Adult Survivors Act, which allowed New Yorkers to sue for sex crimes beyond the statute of limitations until last Friday, November 24.
Responding to the new lawsuits, a spokesperson for Diddy said “the claims involving alleged misconduct against Mr. Combs from over 30 years ago and filed at the last minute are all completely denied and rejected by him.”
