Green Day share new song “The American Dream Is Killing Me”

Green Day have returned with new music and details of their 14th studio album. "The American Dream Is Killing Me" is the first single from Saviors, which is due on January 19 via Reprise/Warner Records. A zombie-themed video for the new song can be seen below.

Saviors was recorded in London and Los Angeles with producer Rob Cavallo, who has previously worked with Green Day on 1994’s Dookie and 2004’s American Idiot. In a statement, Billie Joe Armstrong describes the new song as "a look at the way the traditional American Dream doesn’t workfor a lot of people - in fact, it’s hurting a lot of people."

Green Day debuted "The American Dream Is Killing Me" and another Saviors song titled "Look Ma, No Brains!" at a surprise show in Las Vegas last weekend where they also performed Dookie in full.

It was during that show that Armstrong announced that Green Day are planning co-headline tour with Smashing Pumpkins. The frontman told fans that the two bands will play stadiums in North America together in 2024. Precise dates have not yet been announced.
