Gucci Mane has shared a new double album titled Breath of Fresh Air. Out today, the project comprises 24 tracks (12 on each disc) and features a cast of high-profile guests, from Lil Baby to Key Glock to J. Cole to 21 Savage. Memphis legend Young Dolph, who was shot and killed at 36 in 2021, is featured (posthumously) on two tracks: “Thank Me” and “Pretty Girls.”
Elsewhere, on disc one closer “Stomach Grumbling,” Gucci shouts out the Writers Guild of America, whose 148-day strike this summer ended late last month. “Writers on strike and I know why they did it / Hollywood moguls be paying ’em pennies / AI can’t write the song Gucci would write ’cause AI didn’t stay up all night in the trenches,” he raps in a show of solidarity.
In the months leading up to Breath of Fresh Air’s release, Gucci Mane released nearly half of the album’s tracks as singles, including “Bluffin” (feat. Lil Baby), “There I Go” (feat. J. Cole and Mike WiLL Made-It and “Woppenheimer“ (shared alongside the best cover art of this year).
Gucci has released collaborations with Young Dolph on several occasions, both during the latter rapper’s lifetime and after his passing. In 2022 — after sharing the heartfelt tribute “Long Live Dolph” the previous December — Gucci dropped “Blood All On It,” their first joint track since Dolph’s death.
Last December, Young Dolph’s estate shared his first posthumous album, Paper Route Frank. This past June, a person of interest in Dolph’s murder was shot to death in Memphis.
