Showtime has shared the first official trailer for The Curse, their forthcoming show created by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, and starring Fileder, Safdie, and Emma Stone. The network shared a teaser and several stills from the series last month.
In the new clip, Stone and Fielder are a married couple living in Española, New Mexico, attempting to get a house-flipping reality TV show (directed by Safdie) off the ground. Early in the trailer, Safdie tries to get a shot of Fielder handing a young girl money. Fielder gives her a $100 bill, the only cash he has in his wallet, but then asks for it back, thinking the camera is no longer rolling. When she refuses, he snatches it from her hand, a move that proves to be the show’s inciting act.
“I curse you,” the girl says, and things get wilder from there. The rest of the video shows brief scenes of Fielder and Stone’s lives unraveling as they attempt to continue filming their show and convincing themselves they are good people doing a good thing.
The Curse premieres tonight (October 12) at the New York Film Festival and will be available to stream on Paramount+ starting November 10. The first episode will then air on Showtime on November 12 at 10 p.m. EST. Watch the trailer below.
