Watch the trailer for Netflix’s Squid Game reality show
456 real-life contestants battle it out for $4.56 million on Squid Game: The Challenge, premiering November 22.
Following the massive success of the 2021 South Korean Netflix series Squid Game, the streaming platform announced a reality spinoff titled Squid Game: The Challenge back in June. Today (September 22), they’ve shared the first teaser for the show and revealed its scheduled premiere date, exactly two months from now.
The new show takes the dystopian premise of the hit drama series and introduces it into the real world, minus the part where the losers die. 456 real-life contestants will compete in challenges inspired by those in the game’s fictional version for a sum of $4.56 million, the largest grand prize in reality TV history.
“Through a series of games, each player will be pushed to their limits and forced to ask themselves just how far they’ll go to win, with opportunistic alliances, cutthroat strategies, and timely betrayals to follow,” the show’s logline teases.
