JELEEL! has returned for the third time since the release of his May debut LP, REAL RAW!, with a new track called “GFU!” The impossibly ripped, 27-year-old Providence, Rhode Island rapper/singer’s energy never seems to falter, whether he’s quoting Miley Cyrus over chiptune synths on his 4th of July single “HANDS UP!” or trying his hand at Afrobeats vocalizations on August’s “WAHALA!” But his latest all-caps anthem gets extra oomph from a club beat that makes him sound even more geeked up than usual. “Don’t talk to me, nah shut up / Get fucked up, get fucked up,” he sings-shouts on the hook.
“I really love this record as it has aspects from my signature sound but with the new addition of a club music bounce in the drum rhythm,” JELEEL! says of the track. “I’ve also grown a lot since my post-album tour, and this song speaks to what comes with that. There’s an influx of new people that are coming into my life now as I’ve gotten more attention, but I’m just trying to do me and be with my day one people!”
