Jenny Hval and Håvard Volden have announced their sophomore studio LP as Lost Girls. Selvutsletter (Norwegian for “Self-destruct”) is due out October 20 on Smalltown Supersound. The news arrives alongside the project’s second single, “With the Other Hand,” which was preceded last month by “Ruins.”
Like that earlier track, the new song is much poppier than anything on the duo’s debut full-length, Menneskekollektivet (“The Human Collective”), The FADER’s 35th favorite album of 2021. These more traditional rock structures give Hval’s meandering musings a striking clarity, similar to what she achieved on her most recent solo release, Classic Objects.
