Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and pop songwriter Ilsey have collaborated on a rendition of Neil Young's "Heart of Gold," from his seminal album Harvest. The single is produced by BJ Burton, who's worked with Bon Iver since 22, A Million, although Burton's work here sounds closer to the lucid orchestration of 2011's self-titled record.
Ilsey Juber is maybe better known for her co-writing work, which includes Beyoncé's "All Night," Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus' "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart," and multiple songs by The 1975. She and Vernon have previously worked together on "Mimi" by Big Red Machine, his side project with The National's Aaron Dessner.
The last Bon Iver record is i,i, which came out in 2019. Since then, Vernon reissued Bon Iver for its 10th anniversary, and featured on Lonnie Holley's Oh Me, Oh My earlier this year. He'll be on tour beginning August 2. Check out the "Heart of Gold" lyric video below.
