Since the release of Love, Damini last July, Burna Boy has largely focused on touring the world and letting the accolades pour in. His busy summer includes a headlining slot at Afro Nation Detroit and a stadium show at New York’s Citi Field. Tonight (June 1), he’s shared his first new single in months, a celebratory jam that finds him reveling in his new life as a global megastar.
Produced by Skead, “Sittin On Top Of The World” centers a sample from Brandy’s 1998 classic “Top Of The World,” featuring Mase. Burna’s departure from his usual Afrobeats production is both a refreshing program change and — like everything else about the track — a flex on those who tried to pigeonhole him as a regional attraction.
