Solange will score New York City Ballet’s Fall Fashion Gala

Solange will premiere her first original score for ballet at New York City Ballet’s Fall Fashion Gala next month, the company announced Monday afternoon. Her piece will accompany the first performance of a currently untitled piece choreographed by Gianna Reisen and costumed by Alejandro Gómez Palomo at the September 28 event, hosted at Lincoln Center by Ruinart Champagne.

According to a press release, Solange’s work will be performed by “some of the composer’s frequent musical collaborators.” It will be her first new music since the 2019 release of her fourth studio LP, When I Get Home. Read Lawrence Burney’s FADER review of that album here.
