Ibeyi are less than two weeks away from dropping their third studio LP, Spell 31. The album is scheduled for a May 6 release via XL Recordings, and they'll play three May shows in celebration with a fall and winter international tour to follow. Today, the vocal duo of Afro-Cuban, French fraternal twins Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Díaz have shared its fourth offering, "Rise Above" featuring BERWYN.
The new song — an interpolation of its infamous Black Flag namesake — arrives behind previously released singles "Made of Gold" featuring Pa Salieu, "Sister 2 Sister," and "Lavender and Red Roses" featuring Jorja Smith. Ibeyi's soul-infused take on the track is worlds away from Rollins and Co.'s punk standard but retains the original version's spirit of protest.
