Boy Harsher plug in for “Machina”
The new single from their forthcoming horror film, The Runner, features Mariana Saldaña of BOAN.
Boy Harsher have shared "Machina," the third and final single from the soundtrack to their forthcoming horror film, The Runner, streaming on Shudder starting January 16. The Runner (Original Soundtrack) drops January 21 via the band's imprint, Nude Club, and City Slang.
The Runner's first two singles, "Tower" and "Give Me A Reason," found the Northhampton-via-Savannah two-piece picking up where they'd left off with 2019's Careful, Jae Matthews' menacing, sultry voice haunting Augustus Miller's pummeling industrial instrumentals, punctuated by frequent synth-pop stadium blasts.
But on "Machina," Matthews steps aside and lets Mariana Saldaña of Los Angeles darkwave duo BOAN take the reins. Singing in Spanish and English, she describes an unhealthy relationship with a machine that could be taken literally or as a metaphor for screen-age romance. The video shows Saldaña performing the song on a public access TV show, accompanied onstage by a gold-painted strongman. Watch it above.
