Doss shares new song “Cherry” featuring Cecilia Gault
The track is the producer’s first since the 4 New Hit Songs EP.
Doss has had a breakout year of sorts, sharing her fantastic 4 New Hit Songs EP and remixing Lady Gaga's "Enigma" for her Rise of Chromatica album. If you were gearing up for another seven-year hiatus like the one between this year's EP and 2014's self-titled project, that doesn't appear to be the case: Doss is back already with a new song called "Cherry" with vocals from Cecilia Gault.
In contrast to the light atmosphere that permeated most of 4 New Hit Songs, "Cherry" is tougher, with gun-black bass synths and a relentless four-in-the-floor. The visceral experience makes it a sibling of songs like "Look," another track that centers the body rather than transcending it.
“I knew I wanted to make a serviceable club track with Cecilia and I started writing ‘Cherry’ with her vocal style in mind, imagining wanting to be really present in a club by yourself, enjoying the moment in your own way,” Doss wrote in a press statement. “Cecilia and I were totally in sync with that idea and I think that really comes across on the track. It was exciting hearing the song evolve and develop at each stage of the process and I’m excited to share it with everyone.”
"Cherry" was released exclusively on Spotify as part of the platform's Spotify Singles series. Hear it below:
