After a five-year hiatus, we're bringing FADER Mix back. Hear our first mix since 2021 with Los Angeles-based vinyl DJ 1morning, a rising young force in modern-day techno.
We've been running FADER Mix since at least 2009 (I can't be certain; the earliest articles aren't the best tagged). Back then, we were getting submissions from DJs like Hudson Mohawke and uploading them on this very website for download. It was a scrappy production, and probably not the best for safe-internet practices, but it did allow us to do what we felt was the most important: aggressively spread the word of the hustlers and party people that deserved more attention.
Over the years, FADER Mix has highlighted literally anyone who's anyone in not only the electronic and dance sphere, but also rap, reggae, rock, experimental music, and more. Even while putting this post together, scrolling endlessly through our website and archive, I was shocked at the names I encountered: Arca, Jacques Greene, DJ Koze, Giraffage, Omarion, Ricky Eat Acid, Danny L Harle, Yaeji, Frankie Knuckles, and more.
For this next era of FADER Mix, we're excited to continue highlighting the up-and-coming class of beat-makers and club mavens from around the world, and have an exciting roster of names already lined up for the series, which will be dropping on a bi-weekly cadence to start.
