In her GEN F profile, Arlo Parks described one of the guiding principles of her songwriting: "It’s about exploring both elation and despondency while always understanding that the possibility of joy won’t pass you by." This intense emotional ambivalence (and a strong undercurrent of optimism) can be found in Frank Ocean's "Ivy," one of the most beloved songs on his game-changing 2016 album Blonde, and Parks chose to cover the track during a recent appearance on BBC Radio 1's Chillest Show.
