Billie Eilish and her brother and co-producer Finneas took the the stage at the 2020 Academy Awards earlier this evening to perform a cover of The Beatles' "Yesterdy" as part of the annual In Memoriam segment celebrating the lives of iconic film stars who passed away over the past year. This year, the segment paid tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, Rip Torn, Doris Day, and Agnès Varda, among others. Ahead of the ceremony, Eilish — who recently cleaned up at another awards ceremony, the Grammys — said that "Yesterday" was "a song [she's] always loved."
This Oscars performance comes off the back of the announcement that Eilish and her brother Finneas will compose and perform the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film, No Time To Die. Last week, the young singer came under fire for comments she made about "posturing" in rap music, with Styles P complaining that she is "not part of the culture." See the full list of Academy Awards winners here, and watch Eilish perform "Yesterday" below.
