When Saints Go Machine’s “MVL” video is a celebration of family
The Danish band’s first album in six years is out next month.
When Saints Go Machine, the Danish electronic pop trio, took six years out following the release of 2013's Infinity Pool. They return in November, however, with a renewed energy and a new album titled So Deep. "MVL" is the first single from the record and once again shows the Copenhagen crew's ability to meld unearthly hooks with avant-garde electronic production. "MVL"'s video, premiering above, acted as an impromptu party for the extended When Saints Go Machine family, with kids and loved ones dancing in the park to the addictive loops of the song that seem to play over and over.
Speaking to The FADER via email, Nikolaj Vonsild of the group said: "Finishing So Deep felt like it should be celebrated with friends and family in the local park. We simply wanted to make a heartfelt timestamp to show what happened during our hiatus. We’re also affiliated with a local team that plays in the park. So the place itself is important to us. "MVL" is about personal demons, trying to grow, balance and own up to this messy existence. Night always tells me day is coming, like light is a good thing, but it’s hard to chase it."
When Saints Go Machine's So Deep is released on November 8 via Escho and can be pre-ordered now.
