Skrillex ordered to pay $1.6M to fan injured at his concert
Jennifer Fraissl claimed in court that she suffered a stroke following a concert in 2012.
A jury has awarded Jennifer Fraissl $4.5M dollars after she was injured at a Skrillex concert in 2012, TMZ reports. According to the report, Skrillex is personally responsible for 35% of the damages awarded to Fraissl, which works out at around $1.6M.
Fraissl issued Skrillex with the lawsuit four years ago after she claimed she suffered a stroke when he stage dived and hit her during a show at L.A.'s Belasco Theater.
NBC Los Angeles reports that she told the jury that she was "standing near the front of the crowd when Skrillex beckoned fans forward, making it hard for her to leave or protect herself." She then alleged that Skrillex "unexpectedly jumped from his table several feet above the stage and landed on the back of her head."
A jury ruled this week that Skrillex's touring company, Lost Boys, owes an additional $1.8 million, while the venue owes about $450,000. The jury ruled that Fraissl was 15% responsible for her own injuries meaning $675,000 was deducted from the total amount awarded.
“There is nothing more important to me than my fans and their safety at my shows — I want them to have fun and enjoy the music,” Skrillex told TMZ. Barry Thompson, his attorney, stated that they are currently deciding whether to appeal the decision.
