In October of last year, New Zealand dream-pop group Yumi Zouma released Willowbank, their excellent sophomore LP. Today, they debut the new video for the opening track "Depths (Pt. I)," a breezy little track with Christie Simpson's wonderfully light vocals that feel like the audio equivalent of driving in a car top-down, wind in your hair.
The video is just the band performing in a white studio space with quirky Matisse-esque illustrations, but it's charming in its simplicity and joy. Of the video, guitarist Josh Burgess wrote via email, "Sometimes a haiku says it best: ‘Animate your life / Dance with your friends together / Like Yumi Zouma.’" No need to tell me twice.
