Mr Jukes Teams Up With BJ The Chicago Kid For The Joyful “Angels/Your Love”
Check out the U.K. artist’s soulful, brassy debut single.
"I thought I was good, but I really wasn't living" BJ The Chicago Kid sings over a slinky horn section on joyous new song "Your Love." The track, alongside a kids-choir assisted "Angels," go together to make the debut release from Mr Jukes, a.k.a. Jack Steadman's new solo-project. Steadman's name may be familiar, he spent ten years fronting British indie band Bombay Bicycle Club. However, with the group having gone on hiatus in 2016, he's now going it alone and taking a deep dive into jazzier, funkier, and more soulful territory than ever before.
An album, titled God First, is due on June 9 with a host of "very special guests" set to be revealed shortly. “BJ was the first person I collaborated with on this record, and if you listen to the horns in the chorus of this song, that was the feeling I had coming out of the studio that day. Pure awe and excitement," Steadman told The FADER via email. "I decided right then not to call this a solo record, but to seek out as many collaborators as I could.” BJ added that he had "a blast" working with Steadman. "I love that we actually went in the studio to work together on this collaboration, instead of dialing it in over email."
