Few rap producers have been able to take over the worlds of R&B and pop as successfully as Mike WiLL Made-It. The 27-year-old got his start with Gucci Mane and has since went on to work with Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé. He's reached the top of the charts with the latter artists, but, earlier this year, he scored a No. 1 hit with Rae Sremmurd and Gucci Mane's "Black Beatles."
In his Red Bull Music Academy lecture, the Marietta, Georgia native explains his family's musical background, how he first met Gucci Mane, and his work on Beyoncé's Grammy-nominated Lemonade album. As Pitchfork points out, Mike WiLL also revealed the origin story behind the Red Lobster line from "Formation," explaining that Jxmmi wrote the original line: "If you fuck me good, I’ll take your ass to Margiela.” Beyoncé changed the lyric herself.
