Following the release of his Black America Again album Thursday night, Common has released a short film companion piece. The film was produced by Selma and 13th director Ava Duvernay, with Selma's lead cinematographer Bradford Young directing.

Over the course of 21 minutes, the film offers what Common says is "a meditation" on the album's content, stitching together a set of evocative black-and-white visual poems. Intermittently, Common pops up, rapping stripped down verses from the album on abandoned streets, accompanied by a beatboxing drummer.
The album's Stevie Wonder-assisted title track, which already soundtracked an initial video, figures in prominently as well.
