Joe Budden discussed his ongoing feud with Drake in a recent edition of “Be Honest With Cari Champion” on ESPN Radio, and said Drake offered him $10,000 to keep the beef going.
The Slaughterhouse rapper claimed to have recieved Instagram DMs from Drake, betting Budden $10,000 that he couldn't release 25 diss tracks before Drake's August 4 show at Madison Square Garden.
Budden described the messages on-air: “He started off with, ‘I would like to formally invite you to one of my four Madison Square Garden shows, August 4, you and however many people you would like to bring.’ Then after that it said, ‘Oh, and I bet you can’t release 25 diss records between now and then.’ So then it was the laughing emoji — so I use that emoji with my friends, so I don’t know if he’s laughing or joking at this point. And then he followed that with, ‘If you can, I will give you $10,000, lol,’ and then ‘Joey’ and a bunch of exclamation points." Budden replied saying he could probably do close to 20.
Despite saying he "didn’t know how to take" Drake's messages, Budden described them as "very passive aggressive" and that he "sounded like a man who was very hurt and just didn’t want to talk to Joe or hear from Joe or just that relationship was over.” Budden made it clear there was no bad blood, though. “I pray for him, I want him to be well.”
At a concert in Dallas last week, Drake directly referenced the conflict with a dig at Budden's 2003 hit "Pump It Up." “I should've brought Joe Budden up here and let him do 'Pump It Up' one time," he said.
