Joe Budden, the once-rapper and now host of The Joe Budden Podcast, spent some time in the show's new episode addressing his ongoing friction with Drake. Earlier this month, during a negative review of Drake's new album For All The Dogs, Budden targeted Drake's sex life, telling the 37-year-old rapper to "stop f****** 25-year-olds." This caused Drake to call Budden a "failure" in a lengthy Instagram comment. Now, Budden is giving his official response to both the rapper and those who have been discrediting his legacy.
Budden reads out a DM he claims to have received from Drake, where the Toronto mainstay tells him to "keep it music" and "stop talking about my life" because it's not "journalistic" otherwise. Budden claps back, "I only talked about it because you talk about it." His podcast co-hosts agree, saying that those are the lyrics in his songs. Budden also claimed to have received a 55-second voice note but said he didn't listen to it: "You gotta speak to me with love," Budden says.
The podcast boss then gave his view on his rap career for younger listeners who don't know who Budden is other than a "hater" who is attacking Drake.
"Y'all are right," he said. "I do get up here and talk a whole lot of shit. Some of it is not the friendliest to you artists... but be clear, to the kids that are confused out there, when I sit on this couch and talk, I speak from the position of one of the best rappers in the world at all times. I speak like that's what I was, I speak like that's what I am, I speak like that's how I will always be. It's well-documented what I do. I feel this way and speak this way because all of the best rappers in the world have told me to my face."
