Jamie Isaac Gives A Tour Of The Low-Key Magic Of South East London
We went ambling with the electronic singer-songwriter around his south east borough.
"It's a good area to be in — it's an important area to be in," says Jamie Isaac, tapping his freshly rolled joint as he looks over the city skyline in The FADER's latest short film. He's talking about London, and specifically south east London: his birthplace, his home, and the place where he forms part of an artistic community that includes King Krule and Jesse James Solomon. Isaac's own music sits somewhere between the two: he's set to release Couch Baby, a debut LP of simmering electronic ballads, on July 8. "There's definitely a scene growing here," he elaborates. "There's more of a communal feel. There's just a better vibe, you know?"
