Cat’s Eyes —the orchestral pop project of The Horrors frontman Faris Badwan and Italian-Canadian artist Rachel Zeffira—sneaked their way into Buckingham Palace last month disguised as a Renaissance music ensemble to play a track from their new album. The performance took place in front of unwitting guests, including a foreign ambassador.
In the video below, which emerged today, footage from Badwan’s spy cam shows the duo passing through unsuspecting security and entering the Queen’s gallery, where they performed their new song "We’ll Be Waiting" to guests at a private art talk. "The guests thought they were listening to authentic Renaissance and Baroque era compositions…They weren’t," the duo explain in the video.
Badwan and Zeffira, who is playing an instrument called the dulican, are accompanied in the footage by five other musicians from a Renaissance musical ensemble. You can also hear a palace official questioning the pair’s credentials in a phone call.

This isn’t the first time the band have performed in unusual places—back in 2011 they snuck into the Vatican to play their debut gig in front of an audience of cardinals.
