Chi-town artist, Stefan Ponce, is a man of many talents. The charmingly laid-back producer/DJ has charted hits with everyone from Chance the Rapper to Childish Gambino, in addition to giving some of your favorite tracks the most soulful remixes.
Today Ponce unleashes the debut single "Drive In (Don't Pass Me Up)" from his upcoming album, and it's a certified chune. The funk-a-fied track is a dance-worthy mood-lifter, but, surprisingly, it stems from a dark place.
"'Drive In' was one of the first songs we made for the album," explained in an email to The FADER. "A lot of these songs I made in a dark place, which sometimes makes them hard to listen to, but I’m fortunate to be able to channel what goes on in my life negativity to something that makes people dance an happy.”
