BJ The Chicago Kid has been unveiling new songs at a steady clip in the weeks leading up to the release of his major-label debut, In My Mind. The record arrives at the end of next week, but you can stream it now in full over at NPR. Kendrick Lamar shows up on "The New Cupid," which builds around a funny yet tragic hook from BJ: Cupid's too busy in the club, at the bar, rolling up/ And if you see him, let him know/ Love is gone. This echoes comments the singer made last year in a Rolling Stone interview: "Cupid is very much busy in the club, rolling up weed, and smoking, and drinking cognac at the bar like everybody else. He's not doing his job like he used to. So I'll call myself the New Cupid."
