The World Record on Beats 1 yesterday was "Link Up," the work of Dr. Dre's protege Anderson .Paak and the producer Knxwledge. In a short interview, .Paak described Knxwledge in glowing terms. "He was a big part of me finding the sound that I was looking for and the tone that people are more familiar with now." "A lot of times we'll get offers to do something," he continued, "and I want to jump on it right away, and he's not so into it, and that means we can't fucking do it. But it kind of works out for the best, because we end up waiting for the right opportunities, the best opportunities."
Stones Throw will release the duo's Link Up & Suede EP this week. The label posted a radio rip of "Link Up" on SoundCloud; listen below.
