Beach House, who've stuck with a release-every-two-years formula since their eponymous debut, are quickly correcting their extended hiatus. The band's next full-length, titled Depression Cherry, will arrive at the end of the summer, August 28 on Sub Pop. Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally, who recorded the new LP with Chris Coady at Bogalusa, Louisiana's Studio in the Country, shared the news with a statement about how the new LP marks a sonic shift from 2012's Bloom. "In general, this record shows a return to simplicity, with songs structured around a melody and a few instruments, with live drums playing a far lesser role," they wrote. "With the growing success of Teen Dream and Bloom, the larger stages and bigger rooms naturally drove us towards a louder, more aggressive place; a place farther from our natural tendencies. Here, we continue to let ourselves evolve while fully ignoring the commercial context in which we exist... For us, Depression Cherry is a color, a place, a feeling, an energy… that describes the place you arrive as you move through the endlessly varied trips of existence…" Chances are you'll get to experience that place soon, sine the band also announced a world tour (dates below).
