Walls Achieve Transcendence With “Voluta” From Their Final Album

London duo Walls have been releasing electronic psychedelia since 2010, most recently digging into electronic music pioneer Daphne Oram's archive for last year's Sound Houses LP, which they celebrated with a flawless FADER Mix. Having delimited their project with a three-album lifespan, sadly the duo's forthcoming record Urals—mastered by former Spacemen 3 member Sonic Boom, known for producing albums by Panda Bear and MGMT—marks the end of the trilogy, and the end of Walls.

New track "Voluta" suggests it will be quite a beautiful closing statement, though: the track could be vaguely defined as a cosmic, revving synth jam, but it's so much more inspired and finely-sculpted than most stuff that falls in that category. It's very much a transcendent sunrise-in-the-middle-of-the-desert moment. Walls told The FADER what it was like to wrap things up with Urals: "Working on it definitely had the feel of something coming to its natural conclusion. The sounds and textures felt completed in terms of the trilogy, and brought things to a natural end." Stream "Voluta" below, and be sure to buy a copy on April 13th when it comes out on Ecstatic.
