FADER PREMIERE
Walls—the ambient techno duo responsible this mighty fine FADER Mix from all the way back in May—don't just make music, they also peddle it via their own Kompakt sub-label, Ecstatic. The latest addition to their small but perfectly formed catalogue is Intercepts, a split album from analogue adventurer Pye Corner Audio and Not Waving, the solo project of Walls' Alessio Natalizia. Apparently both artists drew inspiration from the shady world of espionage for their respective tracks—the cover art's a play on FBI mugshots of the Duquesne Spy Ring, a group of German spies in the US who were convicted in 1941—and there's definitely something of that ilk to Pye Audio Corner's "Twisted Wire Pair." Creeping paranoia gives way to cautious haste amidst a sea of swirling, spurting synth transmissions. The album's out 18th August but you can pre-order it on vinyl here.
