While listening to "Upplyst," the lead single from Malmö producer Bam Spacey's forthcoming 1998 LP—newly up for preorder before it comes out October 14th, via Ceremony in the US and Luxury in Scandinavia—I started scanning the Wikipedia entry for the album's titular year, and I have to say the combination is making me profoundly unhappy. Sorry! I feel really vulnerable lately! You'll see what I mean. "Upplyst" translates, I believe, to "Enlightened," but the combination of bassy churn, the clenched strings and reading umpteen gratuitous things people do/have done is making me feel like someone turned off all the lights. Stream below, and download the song here, then read on to see some select Wiki clips.
