Wow. This morning, the annual music festival/cultural movement AfroPunk announced this year's highly anticipated line-up, and did not disappoint: D'Angelo will be headlining the free fest in Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn this August. The elusive singer has all but promised a new album this year, and has been touring festivals across the world, so this almost doesn't come as a surprise, but is still pretty much guaranteed to be one of the more epic summer concerts the city has to offer this year. Other highlights include Ice-T's metal band Body Count (behind the controversial ’90s protest song "Cop Killer"), legendary black alternative rock/ska band Fishbone, Shabazz Palaces, SZA, The Internet and more. This is only the first wave of announcements for the three day festival, so stay tuned for more surprises.
