D'Angelo may be on track to release his first new song in years: a nine-minute collaboration with JAY-Z recorded for the soundtrack to the Netflix film The Book of Clarence.
The film's director Jeymes Samuel spilled the beans at an event on Saturday hosted by Elliot Wilson, as Stereogum points out. “It’s so deep," Samuel says of the song, "D’Angelo, Jay-Z. Like, nine minutes, 33 seconds of absolute soulful biblical bliss.” If the song doesn't exist, that's an awfully specific timestamp! Watch below.

The Book of Clarence is available on Netflix this Friday, January 12. D'Angelo's last song was "Unshaken," released in 2019 and taken from the soundtrack to the video game Red Dead Redemption 2. Last year, JAY-Z shared a reimagination of his hit "Empire State of Mind" called "NEW YORK (CONCEPT DE PARIS)" incorporating the Gil Scott-Heron classic "New York Is Killing Me."
