You sense from "Your Eyes" that Alexis Penney and production co-conspirators Nick Weiss of Teengirl Fantasy and Jamie Crewe have the technical chops to make a pure piece of house music nostalgia and could have easily done it, but would have found perfection a little too easy—everything good in life is just a little messy, and "Your Eyes" is off in the best ways, Penney's voice so close that it's Annie Lennox-like quiver is practically inside of your ear, Weiss and Crewe's synths lurking a little too wobbly and drunken beneath. It's a kind of sincerity that makes us believe every single yearning syllable of the spoken-word interlude at around 3:05. Watch the drag queen-filled video above and download it below. "Your Eyes" is off Penney's album Window, which came out this week and is available for sale on iTunes.
