Part of the reason that El-P’s Cancer 4 Cure worked so well was that El-P reigned in all the business of his previous work, condensing his entire production style into these four-or-so minute dense balls of paranoid energy. "Tougher Colder Killer," which originally featured Killer Mike and Despot, was a highlight of that album. With its multiple beat change ups and typewriter snares, it captured everything that there is to love about El-P's production style. Now there's an instrumental version of the track (the whole instrumental version of the record will be available on October 23rd). It works totally fine on its own, but it's hard not to miss Killer Mike rapping about his big belly.
