"Monolith" is the first track on Holograms’ upcoming self-titled record (out July 10th on Captured Tracks), and, honestly, it's our favorite track on an album full of great songs. It's one of those openers that is at once a mission statement and a door into the band's world. It just so happens that Holograms' world is dark and kind of austere and filled with a pervasive, but somehow attractive, sense of desperation. We say all this to warn you that "Monolith" is not the peppiest listen, but that doesn't mean you should ignore it.
