Angolan-born, British producer Breyner Da Silva Baptista, known as Brey, has at long last prepped his debut EP, out later this month from Serbia's Svetlana Industries. The four tracks offer a rich display of styles, moving fluidly from a sort of tribal house on "Bengela" to an even-harder-to-pinpoint future garage-ish sound in the middle, albeit supplemented with TI samples, live guitar and violin interludes, then finally to an unlikely feature from Pittsburgh rapper Vinny Radio, on "Monies." There's a special brightness to Brey's music, full of sounds of good times and humor, the spirit even stronger than the bass. Brasil is a major grinner. A music video shot in Belgrade premiered on XLR8R earlier today; the EP comes out on vinyl March 19th and goes up for download April 2nd.
