Austin, Texas'
Western Tink showcases his relaxed, full-of personality flow over a collection of strong beats, some seemingly salvaged from tossed-off Bay Area tapes. "Get Ratchet" lurches forward, its beat segmented by steady drum slaps and Tink's wheezy huffs. "That Lyfe," a posse outro featuring Tink's internet friends MondreM.A.N., Squadda B and Shady Blaze that was probably recorded over Skype but sounds like it was recorded in a hot-boxed back seat, is sprinkled with tiny bells.
Chillin Like a Civilian, recorded in Austin this winter, was engineered by
Ruler Why. It precedes Tink and producer
Beautiful Lou’s album,
Mobbin No Sobbin, which will be released by
Mishka later this year.
