There’s a great American tradition of New York being a welcoming port and FADER teamed up with Converse’s new Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn to further it. Once a month, we’ll be welcoming touring artists to the neighborhood with a visit to a local Brooklyn institution, as well as making time for an intimate performance. The purpose of Brooklyn's Barcade is to combine one of young America's favorite pastimes (drinking) with one of young America's other favorite pastimes (video games), with a dash of social interaction sprinkled in for good measure. Barcade was empty and still "warming up" the beer taps when we conducted our interview with Smith Westerns, allowing the boys to test out the games sober and alone, a far cry from the prototypical Barcade experience. Smith Westerns' "Tonight" though, is all carpe noctum, a song about acknowledging the moment when you are having the time of your life with the people you most care for. Does this happen at Barcade? Probably not too often unless you all feel a special kind of way about versus action Tetris, but it's a place for fun and one you can get specialty craft beers and not have to worry about someone dropping bows on you when Flo-Rida comes on. (Flo-Rida never comes on.)
