It turns out that when you listen to Chromeo you don't get transported back to the '80s to chill with Hall and Oates on a pink yacht, which is a disappointment we are slowly coming to terms with. So yeah, this is full-blast a heavy throwback, but done in that meticulous Chromeo way where the sounds aren't necessarily new, but it doesn't matter because there's such a borderline insane dedication to capturing the sound of an entire decade's worth of pop music that you can't ever really be mad.
