The longstanding FADER Mix series presents new, exclusive DJ mixes from our favorite artists, DJs, and producers.
For the first FADER Mix since 2021, The FADER welcomes Los Angeles-based DJ 1morning to bring the series into a new era.
1morning earned global attention via a 2023 set with HÖR and a 2024 mix for Resident Advisor, alongside performances at the legendary Tresor, Blitz, and Draaimolen Festival. He's broadened his impact Stateside as well, becoming a frequent guest at pillars of the New York scene, Brooklyn's Nowadays, Basement, and the party series, MERGE. He'll be continuing the momentum this spring and summer with appearances at Horst Arts & Music Festival in Belgium, Return to the Source in Detroit, and Stone Techno Festival in Germany.
1morning's FADER Mix is a full on flex. Both bombastic and surgical, the hour-long set is supercharged sprint that weaves Joey Beltram's grim funk with French techno producer Oxia's ominous brutalist minimalism with 1morning's own track, "YOU HEARD ME THE FIRST TIME" — a swirling piece of psychedelic techno that is equal parts concrete and mist.
See the tracklist and read an interview with 1morning below. Stream the mix on SoundCloud, Mixcloud, and Youtube.

The FADER: What led you to start DJing?
It quite literally started in a warehouse I was taken to a few years back by a buddy of mine in college.
What’s the first set you ever played?
I played in a homie's backyard house show for Minaret Records. That was a live set of my own original productions.
What DJs or artists inspire you?
Way too many but the OG’s like DJ Bone, Dave Angel, and STERAC (Steve Rachmad). My selection is heavily influenced by those cats.
Lots of new school cats have been waking things up for a minute too (Limited Network, NoNonsense Records, FloorSpeed Records, etc.).
How has your local scene shaped your mixing and curation?
I was lucky to have a solid crew around me from day one, sharing and mixing records for hours, and constantly learning from each other. Shoutout the Neurotek crew.
What’s the most memorable set you’ve ever played?
Probably the last time I played Nowadays in New York City last year in 2025.
What excites you about the future of nightlife?
There is always an opportunity to have your mind blown on the dance floor.
How would you describe your FADER mix?
A snapshot in time.
Beyond DJing and music, what's an interest you have that may surprise people?
One of my lifelong goals is to voice a character in an absurd animated comedy series. Maybe even co-write one of my own shows down the line.
