The English producer links with his “dream collaborator” for the song, his first release under XL Recordings.
Danny L Harle has teamed up with PinkPantheress on a new single, “Starlight.” The dance track is the British producer’s first song under XL Recordings and first solo release since his 2021 debut album Harlecore, Pitchfork reports.
“‘Starlight’ reaches for a kind of euphoric melancholy—a guiding light in all of my music,” Harle said in a statement. “It’s shaped by my love of the melancholic songwriting traditions of Europe from composers like Monteverdi and John Dowland, all the way to ’90s Eurodance and the uplifting trance of the 2000s—artists like Gigi D’Agostino and Alice Deejay.”
PinkPantheress will head out on her An Evening With PinkPantheress tour this fall in support of her May album, Fancy That. Harle called the singer a “dream collaborator” for the new song. “Her love for ornamental melodies and hypnotic lyricism fit perfectly into my sound world,” he said.
Harle has worked as a producer, writer, and remixer with Dua Lipa, Oklou, Charli xcx, Clairo, and Caroline Polachek. “Starlight” marks his return to solo music and the beginning of his new era. Listen to the track now, and revisit our 2021 interview with Harle here.
