Jamie xx has shared "F.U.", a new collaboration with Erykah Badu. According to press materials, the track came about after a Primavera afterparty plagued by technical issues. Badu was performing at the party but her equipment broke while she was on stage, leaving her to ad-lib with no backing. Jamie xx was in the audience that night and recorded her vocals on his phone, these files then formed the basis of "F.U." with an in-person studio session completing the track. Listen to the finished product below.
The track appears on the deluxe edition of Jamie xx's 2024 album In Waves which is streaming digitally from today. Including "F.U.", the updated release features five additional songs. Jamie xx is currently on tour in the United States, with shows scheduled in Washington, Boston, and Philadelphia before the end January. He returns to Primavera in June, too, where he will presumably be stalking the afterparties for inspiration.
